2022-15
Wedding days move fast and hold still at the same time, and the work across these years stayed close to both, finding the quiet before the ceremony in a bride descending a white staircase and the full release of it in a crowd spilling across a sunlit lawn under tall Pacific Northwest pines. Each wedding carried its own light and its own emotional register, from a groom alone in deep shadow before the ceremony to bridesmaids mid-laugh in garden light with arms full of white flowers, and the camera moved between those registers without forcing them to match. The scenes ranged from intimate preparations to wide outdoor receptions, and each was treated as its own story with its own texture and pace. The process drew from available light, close observation, and the willingness to stay present long enough for something unguarded to surface, and from that a body of work emerged that sits between documentary and portrait, neither fully staged nor fully candid.
